Choosing Golf Balls – a Beginner’s Guide

Date September 19, 2008

Whether you’re an expert or a beginner, golf balls are one of the most basic pieces of equipment needed to play the game. There are so many brands and types of golf balls, it’s sometimes easy for golfers to lose sight of this simple fact.

Golfbälle are needed to play the game, but they do not have to be a particular brand. Even the most brand-loyal, Titleist or Maxfli fanatic started out happy enough with whatever balls they happened to pick up when they were learning to play.

The fact is, as a beginner you are going to lose a lot of golf balls – regardless of how much you pay for them. It won’t matter whether you’re losing Nikes or Lakeballs in the woods. When they’re gone, they’re gone, and so is the cash you paid for them.

If you want to throw away money on expensive golf balls someone recommends you should have, that’s your choice. If you’d rather just focus on learning to play and enjoy the game instead of being blindly devoted to a brand, take advantage of used golf balls when you’re starting out.

There’s something else to be said for beginners taking advantage of used golf balls. If you purchase used balls that have been collected on a course in bulk, you’ll probably get to try out a lot of different brands. Starting out with used golf balls can give you a lot of experience with different brands of makes of balls you would otherwise have to pay a fortune to purchase.
